SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Aaron Parker hit a second-inning grand slam to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 6-0 win over UCLA on Tuesday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

With the result, the Bruins moved to 13-21 on the season. UCSB meanwhile improved to 22-10.

The Bruins nearly doubled up the Gauchos in the hit column, 9-5, but ended up getting shut out for just the second time this season.

While UCLA had plenty of traffic on the basepaths, the team couldn't come up with a clutch hit – going 0-4 with runners in scoring position. The Bruins were also twice caught stealing, and made a further two outs on the basepaths trying to take an extra base.

Seven different UCLA batters had multi-hit days, including a 2-2 effort from senior left fielder Carson Yates in just his second start of the year. Freshman shortstop Roch Cholowsky added a pair of singles.

Besides the Parker slam, the UCLA quartet of Luke Rodriguez, Justin Lee, JonJon Vaughns, and Rashad Ruff limited the Gauchos to one earned run the rest of the way.

UC Santa Barbara used four pitchers in the contest. Frank Camarillo drew the start, scattering four hits over two innings to receive the win. Freshman righty Jackson Flora retired every batter he faced en route to a three-inning save.

UCLA returns to action this weekend, hosting Pac-12 rival Arizona State in a three-game league series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. PT. The entire weekend set will be streamed through Pac-12.com.
