Apr 16, 2024

PHOENIX – Kelsey Hall hit a pair of home runs as Sun Devil softball fell to Grand Canyon 5-4 on Tuesday night. With the result, the teams split their two games during the season.

Hall's solo home run in the first inning gave Arizona State (18-22) a 1-0 lead. Grand Canyon (37-9) answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second to lead 5-1.

ASU would get RBI singles from Tanya Windle and Alesia Denby to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fourth inning, but GCU tacked on a fifth run with a sacrifice fly in their half of the fifth inning.

Hall hit her second home run of the game in the ASU seventh, but that would be the final hit of the evening.

The Sun Devils had six hits overall, with two apiece from Hall and Windle.

In the ASU circle, Meika Lauppe allowed two runs (one earned) over the final five innings in relief of Deborah Jones.

ASU will make its final road trip of the regular season this weekend for a three-game series at No. 19 Arizona. The action begins at 5 p.m. on Friday in Tucson, will all three games of the series on Pac-12 Networks.
