USC Baseball Falls to San Diego, 3-2

Apr 16, 2024

IRVINE, Calif. – The USC baseball team dropped its final home midweek contest at Great Park on Tuesday evening, falling 3-2 to San Diego.

The Trojans had their opportunities, but left runners on in five different innings. USC falls to 17-19 on the season while the Toreros move to 23-12.

USC put up the first run of the game, with Kevin Takeuchi driving in Austin Overn in the first inning. San Diego evened it up the very next half inning and then took the lead in the fifth on a two-run triple from Dustin Allen. The three USD runs would hold as the Trojans got one back in the sixth after loading the bases, but it came on a double play. A groundout ended the inning with a runner left on third.

Garren Rizzo got the start on the mound, giving up one run in 4.2 inning of work. Brodie Purcell, Xavier Martinez and Jared Feikes each had scoreless relief innings.
