PULLMAN, Wash. - No. 1 nationally ranked STANFORD was the lone team in the red on Sunday to take the early lead during a cold, blustery opening round at the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

While the temperatures climbed from near freezing in the morning up to 50 in the afternoon, sustained 15-20 mph winds impacted play throughout the opening round as the 55-player field posted a 75.72 scoring average with only five sub-par rounds.

The Cardinal though put its four scorers inside the top 10 - led by sophomore Megha Ganne and senior Rachel Heck, the 2021 Pac-12 individual champion, both at 1-under 71 - to open at 2-under 286 for a seven-shot cushion on No. 16 OREGON (5-over 293).

Led by first round co-leader junior Madelyn Gamble's 2-under 70, host WASHINGTON STATE posted a solid 9-over 297 team total to sit in third. USC sophomore Catherine Park joined Gamble atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under as the defending champion Trojans sit in fourth at 10-over 298.

Teams and players will look to move into contention during Monday's second round beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT off split tees.

Daily 30-minute highlight shows will air on Pac-12 Network the morning following each round - 10:00 a.m. PT on Monday (1st Round recap) and Tuesday (2nd Round recap), and 8:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday (Final Round recap).
