Bruins Varsity Eight Crew Beats USC, No. 17 OSU at Dexter Lake Invite

LOWELL, Ore.—The UCLA women's rowing team beat multiple ranked programs over five different races at the Dexter Lake Invitational on Saturday morning in Lowell, Oregon.

"Today was the all-around performance that we were looking for," head coach Previn Chandraratna said. "There was trust in the work, trust in the race plan, and trust in each other. We're looking forward to continuing to grow and build speed in the coming weeks."

UCLA's varsity eight crew produced a great result in their race. The group finished second (6:31.14) in their heat in impressive fashion, beating No. 17 Oregon State, as well as USC.

The Bruins' second varsity eight group also had a strong showing on Saturday, placing second in their race in 6:41.19.

UCLA's third varsity eight crew earned the lone victory of the day, beating the next closest boat by over six seconds in 7:00.20.

In the four boats the Bruins placed second in the top varsity four boat in 7:27.37, while the second varsity four crew placed third in their race (7:38..83).

Up Next: The Bruins will be back in action in two weeks when they compete at the Pac-12 Championships on May 19 in Sacramento, California.
