USC’s Tahj Washington Selected by Miami Dolphins in Seventh Round of 2024 NFL Draft

LOS ANGELES – USC wide receiver Tahj Washington was selected by the Miami Dolphins as the 21st pick of the seventh round (241st overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. 
 
Washington is USC's 530th all-time NFL draftee. USC is second behind Notre Dame's 532 for most NFL Draft picks all-time.
 
Washington is the 21st Trojan wide receiver drafted since 2000.

He is the first Trojan picked by the Miami Dolphins since offensive tackle Austin Jackson was selected in the first round with the No. 18 overall pick in 2020. 
 
Washington was one of USC's steadiest and most reliable players throughout his time at Troy, both at wide receiver and on special teams. 
 
He led the Trojans in receptions and receiving yards in 2023, recording 59 receptions for 1,062 yards (18.0 avg.), amassing over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. He tallied 8 TDs for the Trojans. He also recorded 1 carry for 10 yards as well as 3 tackles. He appeared in 13 games for USC with 8 starts and was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection. 
 
Washington had 50 receptions for 785 yards (15.7 avg) with 6 TDs, as well as 3 kickoff returns for 75 yards (25.0 avg) while appearing in 14 games with 11 starts as a redshirt junior in 2022. He also was a vital member of the Trojan special teams and recorded 1 tackle in the Pac-12 Championship game against Utah. He was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
 
Washington, who transferred to USC from Memphis in the fall of 2021, started at wide receiver as a redshirt sophomore in 2021. Overall in 2021 while starting 11 of the 12 games in which he appeared, he had 54 receptions (second on USC) for 602 yards (11.1 avg) with 1 TD, as well as 7 kickoff returns for 121 yards (17.3 avg) and 1 tackle. 
 
He earned 2020 Football Writers Freshman All-American First Team as a redshirt freshman wide receiver at Memphis.  While starting 10 of Memphis' 11 games, he had 43 receptions for 743 yards (17.3 avg) with 6 TDs, ran 4 times for 11 yards (2.8 avg) with a TD, returned 12 kickoffs for 242 yards (20.2 avg) and made 4 tackles.  His 743 receiving yards was the most by any freshman in the nation and was second in Memphis history for a freshman. He twice was named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week Honorable Mention and also made the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll.
 
On Thursday (April 25), USC Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Caleb Williams was selected No. 1 overall by the Chicago Bears in the first round. With Williams' No. 1 overall selection, USC now holds the record for most players (6) selected as the top pick of the NFL Draft.

On Friday (April 27), USC First Team All-American safety Calen Bullock was selected by the Houston Texans as the 14th pick of the third round (78th overall) and running back MarShawn Lloyd was selected by the Green Bay Packers as the 25thpick of the third round (88th overall). 
 
Earlier today, offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston was selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the 39thpick of the sixth round (215th overall), USC wide receiver Brenden Rice was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers as the fifth pick of the seventh round (225th overall) and defensive lineman Solomon Byrd was selected by the Houston Texans as the 18th pick of the seventh round (238th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. 
 
The 2024 NFL Draft concludes with the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday (April 27).
