SEATTLE – No. 8 Washington dropped a 2-1 decision against No. 7 Stanford on Sunday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium.
The Huskies move to 31-10 (13-8 Pac-12) and Stanford goes to 39-11 (15-6 Pac-12).
Ruby Meylan got the start, going 2.2 innings with two hits and two runs allowed with three strikeouts. Lindsay Lopez came on in relief and did not allow a hit and recorded a pair of strikeouts in her 4.1 innings.
Stanford brought across the first runs of the contest on a pair of RBI doubles by Taryn Kern and Aly Kaneshiro for the 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
After a scoreless fourth, the contest entered a 43-minute rain delay.
A leadoff single by Olivia Johnson and back-to-back walks by Kinsey Fiedler and Brooke Nelson loaded the bases with one out. The Huskies made it a one-run game on a five-pitch walk to Sydney Stewart.
Brooklyn Carter stole a pair of bases on the afternoon to improve to 19-for-19 on the season. She has stolen 41 consecutive bases dating back to last season. She also recorded a pair of hits in the game.
