Softball Falls to No. 20 Cal in Series Finale

TEMPE – Sun Devil softball closed out their series against No. 20 California with a 7-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium. The Bears scored six runs in the third inning to gain and ultimately hold the lead throughout the remainder of the game. 

Arizona State (19-27, 3-18 Pac-12) fell behind in the third inning as Cal (33-15, 7-12 Pac-12) used three home runs to score six times. ASU answered in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single from Tanya Windle and later added a run on a wild pitch.

ASU loaded the bases in the third and fourth innings but failed to score in either situation. The Sun Devils left 11 runners on base and they went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Kelsey Hall had a pair of hits to extend her hitting streak to seven games.

The Sun Devils will finish their regular season at Farrington Stadium next weekend against UCLA.
