NCAA Championship Host Bears Earn No. 3 Seed

Apr 29, 2024

BERKELEY – The California women's water polo team will take the No. 3 seed into the 2024 NCAA Championship, which it hosts for the first time in program history next month.

This will be the 10th NCAA Championship appearance for the third-seeded Golden Bears, who own a 10-9 all-time record at the championship. They have advanced to the semifinal round eight times before.

The Bears head into the final tournament of the season with a 17-6 overall record. This past weekend, they defeated No. 4 seed Stanford 10-4 to advance to their first MPSF Final since 2011.

Senior Isabel Williams has led the Bears to one of its best defensive seasons in history. One of Cal's five All-MPSF selections this season – and the program's only three-time All-MPSF First Team goalkeeper – Williams set Cal's all-time career saves record this past Friday.

Cal will face No. 9 Fresno State in the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 10. The Bears earned four-goal victories in both of their regular-season meetings with the Bulldogs.
