Win Number 40

Apr 29, 2024

SEATTLE – The No. 7 Cardinal topped Seattle today, 5-3, to move to 40-11 on the season. Grad student Kaitlyn Lim led the way with three hits, including a two-run home run that proved to be the difference.

Seattle opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, getting a run across to take a 1-0 lead.

The score held until the top of the fifth, when Lim tanked a ball well beyond the fence in right field for her third home run of the season. The two-run blast put the Card on top 2-1.

The home run was Stanford's 46th of the season, tied for the third-most in program history and the most since 53 were hit in 2008.

Seattle tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot to left to make it 2-2.

Stanford was able to answer with two outs in the top of the seventh, as sophomore Taryn Kern singled in a run to make it 3-2. The next batter, sophomore Emily Jones hit a hard hit ball back up the middle to plate two and make it a 5-2 score.

Seattle added an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 5-3 final score.

Senior Regan Krause picked up the win, her 18th of the season, behind 6.2 innings of work. The Pontiac, Ill. Product allowed just two earned runs and struck out nine before giving way to freshman Alyssa Houston. Houston picked up her second save of the week, inheriting two runners on before sealing the win.

The Cardinal returns home for the final regular season homestand this weekend, hosting No. 24 Oregon. The series begins at 7:00 p.m. PT on Friday, with tickets still available at tickets.gostanford.com. All three games will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
