Huskies Earn Eight All-Conference Honors

SEATTLE – Washington softball had seven Huskies earn eight all-conference honors, the Pac-12 Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

It is the sixth straight season the Huskies have earned eight or more Pac-12 year-end awards.
 
The Huskies saw three named to the first team in Rylee Holtorf, Brooke Nelson and Ruby Meylan. It is the 14th consecutive season Washington has seen two or more named to the team. Alana Johnson earned second team honors, while Jillian Celis is a third team selection. Giselle Alvarez and Sidne Peters were named to the All-Freshman Team and Celis landed on the all-defensive team.
 
Holtorf earns her second conference honor, after being named to the all-freshman team in 2022. This season, she is second on the team with a .348 batting average with 11 home runs, 48 hits, two triples, eight doubles and 25 RBI. She has also drawn 22 walks. Holtorf delivered a pair of walk-off home runs against Oregon State (ninth inning) and Seattle U (seventh inning). In the field, she has helped turn 10 double plays and holds a .944 fielding percentage with 56 putouts and 63 assists.
 
Nelson has been named to first team all-conference for the first time in her career. She has been a force at the plate, posting a team-best .350 average with 12 home runs, 41 hits, six doubles, a triple and 34 RBI. In the circle, Nelson holds a 5-1 record with a 1.93 ERA in 14 appearances and seven starts.
 
Meylan earns her second consecutive first team nod. The sophomore pitchers holds a 2.14 ERA in 26 appearances and 18 starts in 117.2 innings thrown. Meylan ranks in the Top 5 in the conference in ERA, strikeouts (136) and strikeouts per seven innings (8.1).
 
Johnson is a second team all-conference selection after posting a .331 average with six doubles, team-leading 12 home runs and 35 RBI. She notched 10 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games. Johnson hit two home runs against Arizona power the Huskies past the Wildcats in the series opener. Her 12 home runs is seventh-most in the conference and sixth in home runs per game.
 
Celis posted a .324 average at the conclusion of the regular season. Her 13 doubles are third in the conference. Celis set a new career-high in home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.568) while tying a career high in doubles. She was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on March 4 following the Jane Sanders Classic. Celis was also named to the all-defensive team. In the field, she holds a perfect fielding percentage with 63 putouts and 81 assists at second base.
 
Alvarez has been named to the all-freshman team after posting a .321 batting average with three doubles, two home runs and nine RBI. She has held it down at third base with a .986 fielding percentage with 41 putouts and 31 assists.
 
Peters earns all-freshman team honors after posting a 7-0 record in the circle with a 3.02 ERA over 53.1 innings with 63 strikeouts. She ranks 30th nationally with 8.3 strikeouts per seven innings and 22nd in hits allowed per seven innings (4.33), both rank third and second in the conference respectively. Peters also earned Pac-12 freshman of the week honors on April 1 following a pair of wins against Orgon State.

Washington will open the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 18 Arizona on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. from Smith Family Stadium in Stanford, Calif. The game will air across Pac-12 Networks and audio will be available on GoHuskies.com.
