Roundup: More spring football on deck

Apr 19, 2013

The Pac-12 Networks has another Saturday filled with spring football for ya, and the action tomorrow kicks off at 12 p.m. PT with the Utes taking the field for the Red-White game. Earlier this week, Ashley Adamson caught up with Kyle Whittingham to talk spring football story lines. [Editor's note: And Jeremiah Poutasi!]

After the Utes are done, Washington State will put its team on display with the Crimson and Gray game at 2 p.m. PT. Get low down from Connor Halliday as he dishes on Washington State spring football with Ashley Adamson. [Editor's note: And Darryl Monroe!]

Last but not least, the Dawgs have their time to shine at 4 p.m. to round things out tomorrow, and Bishop Sankey previews the Washington spring game with, who else, Ashley Adamson. In good news on the hardwood, C.J. Wilcox is returning to the Washington men's basketball team for a fifth year.

Of course, spring football isn't the only thing you can find this weekend on the Pac-12 Networks, as Arizona and Stanford will duel it out on the diamond when the Wildcats head to The Farm. The Friday and Sunday games of those series will be televised.

Spring football is over for Colorado, so the Buffs have received their offseason marching orders from Mike MacIntyre - weight and workout goals to achieve before fall practice begins.

Oregon State will have its spring game next Friday night, and the folks in Corvallis are making a whole late afternoon/evening out of it. So without further ado, here's the Oregon State Spring Showcase schedule for April 26.

The NCAA women's gymnastics championships are this weekend at UCLA, and Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year Vanessa Zamarripa is back from an injury she sustained two years ago and ready for the NCAA championships. The fifth-year senior was a frequent guest of Pac-12 Digital this year for winning numerous Gymnast of the Week awards, though she didn't quite win it enough times for our Sarah Kezele ever to put on that crazy-lookin' UCLA hat she showed off in their last interview...

Who knew USC athletic director Pat Haden could act? He took on a role in a campus production of the musical "The Most Happy Fella," and the Los Angeles Times opines that Haden is a most brave fella in this latest venture.

But back to football to round this one out. Grantland did a great short documentary on former Cal running back John Tuggle, who defied the odds as 1983's Mr. Irrelevant.

Over in Eugene, Oregon linebacker Tony Washington is preparing for the job of replacing Dion Jordan, because it's always fun to follow in the footsteps of a surefire first round draft pick.

Interesting read (and listen) from The Bootleg's David Lombardi on the health and strength of Stanford football. The article is supplemented by a 48-minute radio show on the same subject, so I'd say he dives pretty deep into this one.

It's been a tough spring for Sun Devil linebacker Carl Bradford, who lost his father over spring break while they were visiting family in Louisiana. Tyler Lockman is on the story for FoxSports Arizona, writing that Bradford endures his family tragedy with Arizona State's support.
