Prince, USA Win Gold at 2021 FIBA AmeriCup

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Sedona Prince and the USA Basketball Women's AmeriCup Team won the gold medal at the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup on Saturday with a 74-59 victory over Puerto Rico in the title game.
 
The U.S. finished a perfect 6-0 at the FIBA AmeriCup while outscoring opponents by 35.2 points per game, advancing to one of four 2022 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournaments that will determine the 12 teams to reach the 2022 FIBA World Cup.
 
Prince averaged 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game with seven blocked shots across six games. The Oregon women's basketball standout led the U.S. to a dominant 102-53 win over Venezuela on June 14, going 8-of-14 from the field for a team-high 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
 
This is the second gold medal for Prince, who also led the U.S. to victory at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Prince owns a pair of bronze medals as well, from the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2016 FIBA U17 World Cup.
 
Prince is one of multiple Ducks to don the red, white and blue this summer. The quartet of Te-Hina Paopao, Sydney Parrish, Maddie Scherr and Kylee Watson reached the semifinals at the 2021 Redbull USA Basketball 3X Nationals last weekend, and Paopao is on the 2021 USA Women's U19 World Cup Team that will compete at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup on August 7-19 in Debrecen, Hungary.
