California men, Stanford women secure 2022 Pac-12 Rowing titles

FINAL RACE RESULTS

LOWELL, Ore. – The CALIFORNIA men’s rowing team captured its 17th Championship title and the STANFORD women took home their first crown since the 2014 season at the 2022 Pac-12 Rowing Championships in its debut on Dexter Lake on Sunday.

The Golden Bears men’s team secured scoring wins in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and novice eight - as well as the non-scoring varsity four - to finish with 72 points and break Washington's streak of four straight conference titles. WASHINGTON took second in four races, along with a first place in the third varsity eight, to finish runner-up with 65 points. OREGON STATE was third for the second straight year with 47 points. The men’s standings were rounded out by fourth-place STANFORD (42 points), men’s club champion WASHINGTON STATE (40 points), OREGON (17 points) and COLORADO (12 points).

The Cardinal women won four of five races, including the scoring varsity eight, third varsity eight, and varsity four, to clinch the program’s second Conference title (2014), finishing with 43.5 points to edge two-time defending champion WASHINGTON (41 points). CALIFORNIA took third with 31.5 points. OREGON STATE (23.5 points) edged USC (22 points) for fourth, while WASHINGTON STATE (10.5 points) edged UCLA (10 points) for sixth.

With its Conference win, the Stanford women’s team will receive the Pac-12's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championships regatta. The 2022 NCAA Division I Rowing Championship field will be announced on Tuesday, May 17 at 2 p.m. PT in a selection show on NCAA.com. The championship finals will take place from May 27-29 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.

For the Pac-12 men’s rowing programs, the 119th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta will take place June 3-5 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, N.J.
