Annual Pac-12 Team Green event to feature tours, career fair and daylong program of keynote speakers and breakout sessions

SAN FRANCISCO - The 2023 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference is set to take place at Stanford University with an opening night reception on Wednesday, June 21st and the day-long conference on Thursday, June 22nd. More information, including single and group registration rates for the two-day event, are available at Pac-12.com/sustainability.

One of the key components of Pac-12 Team Green, the Pac-12 Sustainability Conference will feature a high-level symposium focused on elevating approaches and enhancing sustainability efforts within collegiate athletics departments, designing new collective initiatives and sharing best practices for transforming college sports into a platform for environmental progress.

Stanford recently launched the Doerr School of Sustainability, the university’s first new school in 70 years, which opened behind a $1.1 billion gift from John and Ann Doerr, the largest gift in Stanford history. The Doerr School of Sustainability helps tackle the urgent climate crisis while advancing sustainability solutions across the globe.

The 2023 Pac-12 Sustainability Conference will represent the seventh annual in the event’s history and the fifth in-person. The event was held virtually in 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pac-12 Team Green has worked closely with Stanford to elevate sustainability efforts over the past couple years. Select members of the conference have served as guest lecturers in the university’s “Sustainability in Athletics” course, which explores the intersection of athletics and sustainability to inspire novel and innovative best practices within sports at all levels. The course was planned and organized by team green-focused Pac-12 student-athletes, and advised by Dr. Sara (Suki) Hoagland.

Full program details, as well as speaker information for the event are forthcoming.
