STANFORD, Calif. - Led by individual medalist Michael Thorbjornsen, host No. 12 STANFORD separated itself from the field in the final round to capture the team title at the 2023 Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship at par-70, 6,727-yard Stanford Golf Course on Sunday.

In sixth place at even-par after the opening 18 holes, the Cardinal kept it in the red over each of the final three rounds to methodically move its way to the top of the leaderboard.

After two warm days, the temperature dipped into the 50s on Sunday and cooled off the field except for Stanford, which was the only team under-par in the final round (4-under 346) to pull away from the pack for a convincing 13-shot victory - the largest at the Championship since 2016 - at 19-under 1381. The 1381 total is the lowest in Championships history.

No. 2 ARIZONA STATE finished runner-up (6-under 1394) for the second time in three years, while COLORADO and WASHINGTON STATE tied for third (5-under 1395) to aid in potential NCAA Regional selections.

The team title is the 12th all-time for Stanford, now tied for second-most in league history trailing only USC's 20. It's also the fifth of head coach Conrad Ray's tenure, tying him with Bud Finger for the most in program history and third-most in Conference history.

Dueling with eventual runner-up Dylan McDermott (13-under 267) of Colorado in the final group, Thorbjornsen birdied the 13th, 15th and 16th holes to slam the door on his second collegiate victory with a career-low in relation to par 15-under 265 (63-66-68-68).

Thorbjornsen is the 11th different individual Conference champion from Stanford, joining the likes of Tiger Woods (1996), Patrick Rodgers (2014) and Maverick McNealy (2015).

Washington State (5-under 1395) recorded its best finish at the Conference Championship in a tie for third, topping its previous high of sixth last achieved in 1973.

It marks the 18th time in the tournament's 63 stagings the host emerged with the team crown, including the fourth time for the Cardinal in 10 stagings at Stanford Golf Course (1960, 1974, 1977, 2023).

Pac-12 teams now turn their attention to postseason competition which will begin with NCAA Regional play May 15-17 followed by the NCAA Championships hosted by Arizona State at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 26-31. The NCAA Selection Show will air on GOLF Channel on Wednesday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
