No. 8 National Seed

May 29, 2023

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will host an NCAA regional for the 21st time in program history, selected as the No. 8 national seed on Monday.

The Cardinal, making its 35th appearance in the NCAA Regional round and 38th postseason appearance overall, is the only Division I program to have hosted in each of the last six tournaments.

Stanford enters the NCAA Tournament carrying a top-eight national seed for the second consecutive season after being tabbed No. 2 headed into the 2022 postseason. Should the Cardinal advance through the regional round, Stanford would be in line to host a super regional with a spot in the College World Series at stake.

Stanford will welcome two-seed Texas A&M (36-25, 14-16 SEC), three-seed Cal State Fullerton (31-22, 20-10 Big West) and four-seed San Jose State (22-28, 18-11 Mountain West) to Sunken Diamond. Stanford opens the tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. when it faces San Jose State on ESPN+. Texas A&M and Cal State Fullerton will play game two at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

Stanford enters the postseason with a 38-16 overall record and won its second consecutive Pac-12 regular-season title after going 23-7 in the conference. The Cardinal has won 11 of the last 14 games, 14 of 18, 15 of 20, and 16 of 22 overall.
