Olympic Gold Medalist and Beaver sophomore Jade Carey is the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year for a second consecutive season, becoming just the third gymnast in conference history to earn the honor in back-to-back years and the seventh overall to earn the award twice during a career. Carey was even more impressive in her second collegiate campaign, leading the Pac-12 with seven Perfect 10 scores in 2023, which included her first career 10.0 on beam to become just the 13th gymnast in NCAA history to complete the gym slam (earning a 10.0 on every event during a career). Carey won her second straight Pac-12 All-Around title at last weekend's Pac-12 Championships, picking up Pac-12 titles on the floor and beam as well. Carey enters NCAA Regionals with the top all-around (39.820) and floor (9.985) NQS in the country, while she ranks second on vault (9.960), tied for fourth on bars (9.965), second on beam (9.975). The Phoenix, Arizona native set a new career-high of 39.875 in back-to-back meets this season, with the score ranking tied for second-highest in the country in 2023. Carey also swept the all-around title and all four event titles in a single meet three different times and posted two 10.0s in the same meet three separate times this year. She earned the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week award six times in 2023, giving her 15 career weekly honors over the last two seasons.
