TUCSON, Ariz. – UCLA and sophomore Lilia Vu completed wire-to-wire team and individual titles at the 2017 Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championships, hosted by the University of Arizona, on Wednesday at Sewailo Golf Club.

The No. 6 ranked Bruins (290-285-287 – 862) closed with a 1-under-par 287 on the par-72, 6,583-yard layout to post a 2-under 862 team total and commanding 21-stroke victory over runner-up COLORADO (296-286-301 – 883). The 21-shot margin marked the seventh largest in the tournament’s 31-year history.

The team title is the sixth all-time for the UCLA program, its first since capturing three consecutive crowns from 2004-06.

“We’ve been so close on multiple years, even the last three, it feels so good to finally play really well and not have any worries coming down the stretch,” said UCLA Coach Carrie Forsyth, who won her fourth Conference title with the Bruins.

Vu claimed individual medalist honors for a school-record fourth consecutive tournament, closing with an even-par 72 to claim a six-shot victory at 7-under 209 (71-66-72). She is a combined 27-under-par in winning her last four events.

“I’m just really proud of how we all played this week, it was really tough,” said Vu. “We’ve been working hard, so it’s nice to see it finally pay off.”

“Lilia played phenomenal golf and she’s been playing great, I can’t say enough about her as a person and a player, she is just so good,” said Forsyth of Vu, who is the fifth Bruins’ player to win the Conference individual title under Forsyth.

Bruins teammate Mariel Galdiano equaled Wednesday’s best round with a 3-under 69 to finish runner-up behind Vu at 1-under 215 (73-73-69).

UCLA Coach Forsyth also singled out the play of Bethany Wu, who tied for 11th place at 6-over 222 (71-70-81). “She shot two rounds under par in the worst possible conditions…we would not be in this position without her, we would not have won without her.”

No. 3 ranked STANFORD (296-298-290 – 884), No. 14 ARIZONA (305-293-289 – 887) and No. 10 USC (304-303-287 – 894) all closed with their best rounds of the tournament to place third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the team standings.

ANNIKA Award candidate Andrea Lee led Stanford and tied for third on the individual leaderboard with a 1-over 217 (72-70-75) along with No. 1 ranked ARIZONA STATE’s Linnea Strom, who carded a closing 3-under 69 (74-74-69). The ARIZONA tandem of Haley Moore (78-69-72) and Krystal Quihuis (77-71-71) both finished at 3-over 219 to round out the top five.

Each of the top five finishers also were named part of the 12-player All-Conference First Team determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The full First Team and Honorable Mention selections are highlighted below.

TV coverage of the event will debut in a one-hour special on Tuesday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m. PT/5:30 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.

Pac-12 teams now look toward NCAA Regional selections which will take place on Thursday, April 27 at 8 a.m. PT on The Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals are May 8-10 in Athens, Ga., Albuquerque, N.M., Columbus, Ohio and Lubbock, Texas. The NCAA Championships will take place May 19-24 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

“We’re going to enjoy this for 24 hours, maybe 48, and then we’ll start thinking about Regionals and travel,” added Forsyth. “All of the top teams are in this conference, so we won’t be staying in the West, we know that. So for us it’s just about figuring out the travel where we’re going to go and take every tournament one at a time.”
