Pac-12 Networks' "The Drive: Pac-12 Football" honored at 2018 SVG College Sports Media Awards
Networks received five total finalist nominations across three categories
SAN FRANCISCO – Last evening at the 2018 Sports Video Group (SVG) College Summit in Atlanta, Ga., Pac-12 Networks was honored by SVG, in association with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), by earning the 2018 SVG College Sports Media Award for “Outstanding Program Series” among national networks for its production of “The Drive: Pac-12 Football.” The honor is Pac-12 Networks first SVG College Sports Media Award.
“Our entire team at Pac-12 Networks is proud to receive this award from SVG and NACDA,” said Pac-12 Networks Executive Vice President of Content Larry Meyers. “It is an honor for our group to have the opportunity to connect fans with the stories of our schools and student-athletes.”
Other finalists in the outstanding programming series category among national networks included Pac-12 Networks’ “Pac-12 All Access: Men’s and Women’s Basketball,” as well as Big Ten Network for “The Journey: Big Ten Football 2017” and ESPN for “College GameDay (Basketball)” and “College GameDay (Football).”
In its fifth season, “The Drive: Pac-12 Football” this past year again took viewers behind-the-scenes with the Conference’s universities and student-athletes, featuring and highlighting the top storylines from around the league. Stories covered in 2017 ranged from in-depth conversations with several eventual selections in the 2018 NFL Draft to all-access with 2017 Heisman finalist Bryce Love during Stanford’s season-opening trip to Australia and USC’s blind long snapper Jake Olson after receiving his first live-game action with the Trojans.
In total, Pac-12 Networks received five finalist nominations at the 2018 SVG College Sports Media Awards with two each in the categories of “Outstanding Live Game Production” and “Outstanding Program Series,” the only national network to multiple nominations the live game production category. In the live game production category, the Networks were nominated for its production of USC football on Sept. 2, 2017 vs. Western Michigan as well as its coverage of the semifinal matchup between Arizona and UCLA in the 2018 Men’s Basketball Tournament. Also nominated as a finalist in the category of “Outstanding Live Non-Game Production” was Pac-12 Networks for its pregame and postgame coverage of the 2018 Men’s Basketball Tournament live from Las Vegas, Nev.
Now in its tenth year, the SVG College Sports Media Awards continues to showcase the best in college-sports production.
