Madison Kocian notches first 10 since 2017 as No. 2 UCLA women's gymnastics cruises past No. 19 Arizona State before 10,000+ at Pauley Pavilion

Jan 21, 2019

For UCLA women's gymnastics, there's simply no place like Pauley Pavilion — especially when The Den is front and center. And there's 10,270 fans in attendance.

The Bruins returned home on Monday, a week after Katelyn Ohashi's floor routine in Anaheim captured an audience around the globe with more than 90 million views. No. 2 UCLA cruised to a 197.775-196.125 victory over No. 19 Arizona State in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.

Madison Kocian highlighted the action with a perfect 10 on uneven bars, her first 10.0 since Feb. 2017. It marks her second career perfect 10. Both have come on bars.

As soon as she stuck the landing, Kocian was swarmed by her UCLA teammates:

Ohashi and two other UCLA gymnasts — Kyla Ross and Margzetta Frazier — each posted 9.950 marks on floor to round out the meet's action.

UCLA next heads to The Farm to face Stanford on Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. PT/ 5 p.m. MT. Pac-12 Networks will televise six more UCLA meets this season, plus the Pac-12 Championships on March. 23. Download Pac-12 Now today and set alerts to follow the Bruins all season long.
