Freshman Bailey Shoemaker Leads the Way, as the Trojans Finish Tied for 12th After Round One

PHOENIX - Freshman Bailey Shoemaker posted the best score of the day with a 71, as No. 6 USC is currently in a tie for 12th place after the first day at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Papago Golf Course. 
 
The Women of Troy combined for a three-over team effort, as they are tied with Baylor. Arizona State currently leads the tournament at seven-under-par. 
 
Shoemaker was the highlight of a tough day for the Women of Troy. She birdied three holes, bogeyed two, and finished round one, one under par with a 71. The freshman is currently tied for 18th in the tournament. 
 
The rest of the cast was above par, as sophomore Catherine Park and Christine Wang both ended one-over-par for the afternoon. Wang limited her mistakes, as she pared 15 of the 18 holes played, while Park posted both good and bad with three birdies and four bogeys. Both players are tied for 40th in the tournament.

Senior Brianna Navarrosa was the last counting score, as she was two-over-par with a 74. She currently ranks tied for 53rd. The last player on the squad is junior Xin (Cindy) Kou, who shot a 77 and is now tied for 75th after day one. 
 
USC heads into the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational at the Papago Golf Course in Phoenix.
