Champion to be crowned Sunday at Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse Tournament

Boulder, Colo. – The championship game of the inaugural Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament is set with regular-season champion No. 1 COLORADO facing No. 2 STANFORD on Sunday, April 29 at 11 a.m. PT/12 p.m. MT at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colo.

In the first semifinal game, No. 1 Colorado and No. 4 OREGON battled through a close first half before the Buffs went on a scoring run in the second half, ending in a 16-6 win for CU. Colorado senior Darby Kiernan scored three goals to pick up her 200th career goal. Kiernan was one of eight Buffs to score during the game.

In the second semifinal between No. 2 Stanford and No. 3 USC, the teams put on a show. At halftime, the Cardinal was only up 7-6, despite the Trojans spending the majority of the first half in the lead.

In the second half, the teams went back and forth scoring, but were tied at 13-13 with 11:37 left. The Cardinal then went on to score two more goals, making the score 15-13 with 5:11 remaining in the second half. USC scored one final goal to diminish the gap to one goal with 33 seconds left in the game. Despite an aggressive attempt to tie it up, the Trojans were unable to get another goal. Stanford won the game 15-14 and advances to the championship. The Cardinal is now 3-0 against USC this season.

Colorado is 2-0 against Stanford this season with the last time they met determining who took the lead in the Pac-12 standings going into the final weeks of the regular season. The game on April 13 went into overtime with the Buffs winning 11-10. At the time, Stanford was No. 12 and Colorado was No. 16 in the IWLCA poll.

The championship game between host No. 1-seed Colorado and No. 2-seed Stanford will take place Sunday, April 29 at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colo. at 11 a.m. PT/12 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Mountain.
