Three Pac-12 teams are ranked in the latest IWLCA Top-25: No. 17 USC, No. 20 Colorado and No. 23 Stanford. The Pac-12 has now had three teams ranked in at least one poll for seven straight seasons.

Around the League

  • Arizona State (5-4, 1-0) notched a pair of wins this past week, including a 17-9 win over San Diego State in its Pac-12 opener.
    • Goalkeeper Katie Vahle earned Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors after making 25 saves and posting a 64.0 save percentage. Mina Scott and Teagan Ng recorded four points each against the Aztecs to pace the Sun Devils.
  • California (4-5, 1-0) outlasted Oregon in its Pac-12 opener, 8-7, to hand the Ducks their first home loss of the season.
    • Kennedy Mason netted the game winner with six seconds left off an assist from Josie Lillquist.
  • The Cardinal (5-3, 1-0) topped then-No. 19 Colorado in its Conference opener and narrowly fell to then-No. 14 Denver, 10-6.
    • Aliya Polisky won her second-straight Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award after scoring eight times and dishing out four assists in those two games. Polisky scored seven goals against the Buffs, which are the most goals scored by a Pac-12 player this season.
  • USC (7-3, 1-0) won its Pac-12 opener against UC Davis, 21-13. The Trojans have never lost a conference opener (5-0 MPSF & 7-0 Pac-12). Their 21 goals scored are tied for the most by a Pac-12 team this year (also ASU vs. Xavier on Feb. 9, 2024).
  • Oregon has held its opponents to single-digit goals in seven of eight contests this season.
    • Goalie Thayer Hubbard is eighth nationally in allowing just 8.38 goals per game.
  • UC Davis’ Ashley Laing leads the league with 100 saves this season, which are the third-most in NCAA DI.
  • USC is 7-1 when scoring 11 or more goals in a game this season.
  • Cal’s Callan Frisch’s save percentage of 50.7 is the 11th best in the country.
  • Colorado’s Madeline Pisani’s 83.3 free position percentage is tied for the fourth best nationally. Pisani has a free-position goal in all but one game this season, and her 1.25 free-position goals per game is the 12th-best in NCAA DI.
  • Caitlin Boughton of San Diego State is second in the league in both saves (79) and save percentage (47.9).
  • Stanford has the fourth-toughest schedule nationally, with past opposition boasting a combined .700 win percentage (42-18).
  • Arizona State is averaging a Pac-12-best 11.67 turnovers per game, which is the fourth-best nationally.

This Week

  • No. 17 USC visits Arizona State on Saturday, March 23 having won six of the last seven against the Sun Devils.
    • These two teams squared off in the semifinals of the 2023 Pac-12 Tournament, in which USC took the 9-5 decision to advance to the championship game.
    • A Sun Devil win would be Arizona State’s first over a ranked team since they defeated then-No. 16 USC on May 5, 2022 in the Pac-12 Tournament.
  • The Golden Bears host No. 20 Colorado this Saturday.
    • The Buffaloes have won 12 straight against Cal.

  • San Diego State (1-9, 0-1) visits UC Davis (7-3, 0-1) in the first Pac-12 matchup between these two teams.
    • The Aggies won 19-11 against the Aztecs earlier this season in a non-conference contest, and Grace Gebhardt posted seven points on five goals and two assists.
