Altmeyer’s Home Run Walks Off ASU, Cats Win Game One

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 19 Arizona won the first game of the series, 3-2, over Arizona State on a walk-off home run from Kaiah Altmeyer in the seventh inning on Friday night.
 
Altmeyer went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and the solo home run to win the game. Aissa Silva pitched 5.2 innings to earn the win and improve to 19-4. She struck out six Sun Devils and held ASU scoreless.
 
ASU scored two in the first inning on a two-run home run for an early lead in the game.
 
In the second inning, the Wildcats plated two to tie the game. Blaise Biringer scored on a throwing error by the Sun Devils and Altmeyer doubled to drive in Emily Schepp for the second run.
 
The rest of the game was a pitcher's duel and Silva retired the last five batters she faced in the game. In the bottom of the seventh, Altmeyer hit her fourth home run to secure the victory for Arizona.
