Personal Bests, Mt. SAC Win Highlight Busy Friday

Apr 19, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team combined for 10 personal and season bests Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field. Klaudia Kazmierska was runner-up in the 800 meters on the Ducks' home track and freshman Osawese Agbonkonkon collected his first collegiate win in the high jump at Mt. SAC.

The 64th Mt. SAC Relays concludes Saturday with the invitational section of the meet beginning at 12:15 p.m. with the 4x100 relays. At the Oregon Relays in Eugene, the Ducks' distance crew has entries in the men's 800 and mile, and women's 1500 meters. The pro section of Saturday's schedule is set to start at 8:45 p.m. with the women's 1500.

Kazimierska ran to a runner-up finish in the professional heat of the 800 meters at Hayward Field. She crossed the finish line in 2:03.28, a new lifetime best in the event. The performance comes six day off her collegiate PB in the 1500 meters (4:08.43) at last weekend's Bryan Clay Invitational.

Past UO greats Raevyn Rogers and Brooke Feldmeier were also in the field. Rogers took the victory in 2:02.00 while Feldmeier (2:06.40) was sixth.

Agbonkonkon notched a final clearance of 2.13m/6-11.75, good for a season's best and the top spot in the 'B' flight of Friday's collegiate high jump. Based on marks entering the weekend, he jumps into the lead in the Pac-12 standings. The Frisco, Texas, native had a previous season's best of 2.10 meters from the indoor season.

In a lifetime-best performance, Anthony Trucks won his heat and finished third overall in the collegiate section of the 110-meter hurdles. The UO sophomore knocked the first barrier but put on a late charge to stop the clock in 14.12, taking five-hundredths of a second off his previous best from last year's Pac-12 Championships.

Freshman Lakely Doht-Barron followed with a personal best of her own, posting a time of 54.06 in the 400 meters. She entered the weekend with an outdoor season best of 55.66 from the Brutus Hamilton meet (April 6). Doht-Barron won her heat Friday and finished 11th across the entire field.

Notable: Caleb Hagan (10.58) and Lily Jones (11.47) led the Ducks' efforts in the 100 meters, each with season-best times…Isabella Nilsen cleared 4.01m/13-1.75 to finish sixth in the 'A' collegiate pole vault, good for a second 13-foot clearance of the outdoor season…Madyson Kannon lowered her best in the 400-meters (1:02.04) for a second time this season.
