Apr 23, 2024

PULLMAN, Wash. – Kyra Ly and Raya Nakao both shot in red figures for the second-consecutive day to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the final round of the Pac-12 Championship on Tuesday.

Nakao finished in a tie for ninth place and Ly placed in a tie for 11th at the conference championship, which featured some of the best amateur golfers in the world.

The Beavers bounced back after a tough opening round to finish in eighth place with a 14-over 304-288-286—878 at the par-72, 6,324-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

The 2-under 286 and 14-over 878 were just one stroke back of their best single-round and three-round scores at the Pac-12 Championship in program history. The best scores are a 3-under 285 and a 13-over 877, both at the 2022 conference championship in Eugene.

The Pac-12 Network will produce a 30-minute highlight recap of the final round that will air on the network at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Nakao, a native of Kaneohe, Hawai'i, continued a fabulous freshman campaign with a pair of 3-under 69's after opening the championship with a 3-over 75. She finished in a tie for ninth place with a 3-under 75-69-69—213. It is her third Top 10 finish of the season and moved her under-par score count to 10. She led the team with 12 birdies over the three rounds.

Ly, a sophomore from Portland, was steady all three rounds shooting a 2-under 72-71-71—214 to finish in a tie for 11th. She had an eagle each of the first two rounds and 40 pars in the tournament, the most of any player in the field. Ly finished in a tie for 46th place at last year's Pac-12 Championship.

Chayse Gomez, a fifth-year senior for Yorba Linda, Calif., also played great golf during the week, dropping in 10 birdies and finishing in a tie for 30th place with a 3-over 75-71-73—219. It is the third time she's competed at the Pac-12 Championship and has finished in the Top 30 all three times.

After missing the previous tournament with an injury, Madde Sund improved her score each day at the Pac-12 Championship shooting a 16-over 82-77-73--232 to finish in 53rd place. She finished the three-day event with five birdies.

True freshman Rebecca Kim played the final two rounds of the tournament and improved with final scores of 80-78. She had one birdie each of the two rounds.

No. 1 Stanford won the team title with a 28-under 836 and Catherine Park of USC claimed medalist honors with a 15-under 201.
