USC Baseball Sweeps Season Series Against Cal State Fullerton With 6-4 Win

Apr 23, 2024

FULLERTON, Calif. – The USC baseball team led wire-to-wire, scoring six runs through the first four innings and holding on the rest of the way, as the Trojans took down Cal State Fullerton on the road, 6-4, on Tuesday night.

The victory was USC's second at Fullerton this season, after the Trojans also won 6-5 on March 5th. It was USC's first season sweep of the Titans since 2016. USC moves to 20-21 with the win, while the Titans fall to 13-25.

Austin Overn led the game off with a homer run in the first and would later double in a pair in the fourth to give USC six runs on the day. The Trojans scored three in the third, getting an RBI double from Jacob Galloway and RBI groundouts from Kevin Takeuchi and Brayden Dowd.

The Titans scored single runs in the first, third, fourth and eighth, but were never able to mount enough of a rally.

Five USC pitchers combined to hold Fullerton in check on the night, with Jared Feikes getting the win after 2.0 scoreless relief innings and Josh Blum picking up his sixth save with 2.0 scoreless innings to end the contest. Blum entered the game with two on in the eighth and got the Trojans out of a bases-loaded with a double-play ball to third.
