USC Women’s Golf Named No. 1 Seed in East Lansing Regional

LOS ANGELES - No. 6 USC women's golf fresh off a second place-finish at the final Pac-12 tournament, continues the postseason with its selection as the No. 1 seed in the East Lansing Regional (May 6-8) at the Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.

After receiving NCAA Championship Runner-up status in 2023, the Women of Troy hope to make another run towards the final prize at the NCAA Championships final, which is set for the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. and hosted by the University of Texas, May 17-22.

The Trojans have advanced to the NCAA Championship final site every year since 1998.

Joining the Trojans in East Lansing is Northwestern (Big Ten), Florida (SEC), Pepperdine (WCC), Michigan State (Big Ten), Kentucky (SEC), Denver (Summit League), Oklahoma State (Big XII), Indiana (Big Ten), Augusta (Southland), Illinois State (Missouri Valley) and Oakland (Horizon). 

Last season, USC finished third in the Pullman Regional, as Malia Nam was the top scorer for the Trojans finishing 11thand Catherine Park was tied for 17th. 

The top five teams after 54 holes from the six 12-team NCAA Regionals - and the top individual (not on an advancing teams) - will advance to Omni La Costa.

USC is led by sophomore Catherine Park and junior Amari Avery. Both players were recently named to the Pac-12 First Team after the conclusion of the Pac-12 Tournament. Park corralled her third win of the season at said tournament, as she became the seventh player in Trojan's history to take home the individual title. In the process Park broke the Pac-12 Tournament record as she was 15-under-par. Joining them in the hunt for a Regional win will be senior Brianna Navarrosa, senior Christine Wang, junior Xin (Cindy) Kou and freshman Bailey Shoemaker.

USC has won an NCAA-best 14 regionals overall and once had a streak of being an NCAA regional top seed from 2011-16.

There are 72 teams in the six NCAA regionals with 12 schools at each site, set for three rounds of competition, May 6-8. USC is one of three Pac-12 schools to receive a No. 1 seed (Stanford & UCLA) and is one of six Pac-12 schools. Those schools include: Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State, Washington.
