Apr 25, 2024

TUCSON, Ariz. - Former Arizona Wildcats offensive lineman Jordan Morgan was selected in the first round (25th overall) by the Green Bay Packers.

Morgan is the second Marana-born Arizona player selected in the NFL Draft, joining Paul Robinson (1968). He is the first first-round pick since Antoine Cason was selected 27th overall in 2008. Morgan was named AP First-Team All-Pac-12 in 2023 following the Wildcats 10-3 season.

He joins a list that includes Antoine Cason (2008; 27th, San Diego), Trung Canidate (2000; 31st, St. Louis), Chris McAlister (1999; 10th, Baltimore), John Fina (1992; 27th, Buffalo), Chris Singleton (1990; 8th, New England), Anthony Smith (1990; 11th, Oakland), Rickey Hunley (1984; 7th, Cincinnati), Mike Dawson (1976; 22nd, Arizona), Bill Lueck (1968; 26, Green Bay), and Walt Nelson (1939; 10th, New York Giants) to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

11th first-round draft selection in program history. Morgan is the first Wildcat to be selected in the NFL Draft since 2021 when Roy Lopez (DL) was selected by the Houston Texans (6th Rd) and Gary Brightwell (RB) was picked by the New York Giants (6th Rd).

Morgan was named to the Second-Team CBS Sports/247 Sports All-American, All-Pac-12 First Team and participated in the Reese's Senior Bowl. Morgan allowed just two sacks in 787 snaps last season and three sacks over 1,444 snaps combined between 2022 and 2023 (22 games).

He was a premier offensive lineman leading the Wildcats in total blocking grade (84.3), run-blocking grade (77.0), and was fifth in the conference in pass-blocking grade (87.3).

Morgan helped the Wildcats to a seven-game winning streak, tying the longest single-season winning streak in program history to conclude the 2023 campaign. He helped the Cats finish No. 18 in scoring offense, No. 8 in passing offense, and No. 20 total offense last season.

The Wildcats kick off the Red-Blue Spring Game on Saturday, April 27 at 6 p.m. inside Arizona Stadium. Pac-12 Network will have the broadcast.
