Apr 27, 2024

CAREFREE, Ariz. -Javier Barcos moved up the leaderboard to claim a share of 10th, while the University of Utah men's golf team sits in 10th place at the conclusion of day two of 2024 Pac-12 Championships, which is being held at the Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree, Ariz.

"For today we were closer," said coach Garrett Clegg. "Javi is playing well and we will hopefully go out tomorrow and have a great final round!"

Barcos was able to move up three spots by carding a 1-over 72 that went down as one of the top 10 scores of the day. He got off to a solid start, using a birdie on the par-4 15th to finish even on the back nine. He encountered a pair of difficult holes after making the turn on to the front nine, but finished strong with two more late birdies that put his tournament score at 5-over.

On Sunday, Barcos will have a chance to become the first Utah golfer to ever achieve consecutive top 10 finishes at the Pac-12 Tournament after he took fourth in 2023.
