Bracket set for the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse Tournament

Apr 27, 2024

The bracket for the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse Tournament is set, with regular-season champion Stanford earning the No. 1 seed.

The LA Memorial Coliseum is home to the Pac-12 Tournament, which is set to take place from May 1-4. All five contests will air on Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Now, with Troy Clardy and Kara Lentz on the call all tournament long. A full schedule can be found below and at Pac-12.com.

The Cardinal went undefeated in Pac-12 action this season to lock in the top spot. Stanford enters the postseason having won six of its last seven games, and boasts the top scoring offense in the league with 15.27 goals per game. The Cardinal is led by leading goal scorer Aliya Polisky, who has found the back of the net 43 times this year. Stanford has earned a top-two seed in three consecutive tournaments

Reigning Pac-12 Tournament champion USC is the No. 2 seed after going 6-1 in league play. Ella Heaney led the way with a Pac-12-leading 68 points (43g, 25a) this season, while Isabelle Vitale paced the Conference with 43 assists. USC is eying its third-ever Pac-12 Tournament title after taking the crown in 2019 and 2023.

Colorado is the No. 3 seed for the second-straight year. The Buffaloes, who went 5-2 in Conference action, are led by Madeline Pisani and her league-leading 56 goals this season. Colorado is looking for its fifth Pac-12 Tournament championship game appearance.

Arizona State defeated UC Davis, 21-11 in the regular-season finale to get its third Conference win and earn the No. 4 seed. The Sun Devils rank second in the Pac-12 in shots on goal percentage (76.7) and in total saves with 160.

California, Oregon and UC Davis each tied with 2-5 league records. The Pac-12’s tie-breaking procedures were used to determine the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds between these three teams.

No individual team had the advantage in the collective head-to-head record against the other tied teams (California: 1-1, Oregon: 1-1, UC Davis: 1-1), so we proceeded with multi-team tiebreaker No. 2: each of the tied team’s record (won-lost percentage) vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular season standings, and then continuing down through the standings, eliminating tied teams with inferior records until one team gains an advantage.

Neither California, Oregon nor UC Davis had a winning record against Stanford, USC or Colorado, bringing us to Arizona State. Oregon went 1-0 against the Sun Devils this season, while both California and UC Davis both lost to Arizona State, resulting in the Ducks taking the No. 5 seed.

With Oregon winning the tiebreaker, we proceeded with the two-team tiebreaker to determine the final seed between California and UC Davis. The Aggies won the lone regular-season matchup against the Golden Bears, giving them the tiebreaker and the No. 6 seed.

Oregon had its best seven-game start to the season since 2015, and their most overall wins since 2018. UC Davis makes the postseason in its first season in the Pac-12. The Aggies are paced by Grace Gebhardt, who ranked second in the Conference with 46 goals this season.

The tournament champion will receive the Pac-12's automatic bid to the 29-team NCAA Tournament. The Pac-12 has sent two or more teams to the NCAA Tournament in three of the last five opportunities.
