Ducks in the Mix Entering Final Round

Apr 27, 2024

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – No. 24 Oregon men's golf is among the pack vying for the 2024 Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship as the Ducks are fourth among a group separated by just five strokes after the conclusion of Saturday's third round. Oregon enters the final 18 holes just five shots back of Arizona State, with Eric Doyle and Greg Solhaug representing the Ducks in the top 10 individually.

Oregon entered the third round seven strokes back of the lead and shot a 15-over 370 to draw within five by the end of the day. Despite seeing two teams rise above them on the leaderboard, the Ducks are very much in the mix entering the final 18 holes.

"The course and conditions have been very difficult," head coach Casey Martin said. "The guys are giving everything they have. Hopefully they have some birdies saved up for tomorrow. We'll go down swinging."

Doyle continued to be a steady presence for the Ducks in the tournament, carding a second straight 72 in the third round. He and Solhaug each entered the clubhouse at 4 over for the tournament, putting them in a tie for eighth.

Matching Doyle for the Ducks' best round of the day was Greyson Leach, who bounced back from back-to-back rounds of 75 to shoot a 72 in round three and move into a tie for 18th at 9 over. Despite a difficult day on Saturday, Aiden Krafft remains in the top 20 at 8 over for the week.

How It Happened: Doyle started the day 1 under through his first five holes, but bogeys on four of the next six saw him fall down the leaderboard in the middle portion of his round. The junior responded well, shooting par-or-better on his final seven holes including birdies on 16 and 17 to draw back to 1 over for the day.

Solhaug fell behind in his first nine holes as the senior made the turn at 3 over par. With the help of two birdies on the back nine, Solhaug finished the day just 4 over par and maintained his position among the top 10.

After shooting 2 over through his first five holes, Leach found another gear across his final 13 as he sank four birdies to counter four bogeys and enter the clubhouse with a 1-over 72. Leach rose 10 spots up the leaderboard with his performance and will enter the final round in a tie for 18th.

Nate Stember and Owen Avrit each earned the final counting rounds of the day for the Ducks as Stember shot a 4-over 75 while Avrit used two front-nine birdies to finish the day 5 over.
