The Cal football team had a featured role in Cal Night on Friday at Oracle Park with Jaydn Ott throwing out the game's ceremonial first pitch, Fernando Mendoza and the Golden Bears' offensive line running a "play" to get Ott to the mound, and Mendoza's participation as part of a trio of Cal student-athletes to make the pre-game "Play Ball" announcement, along with women's swimmer Rachel Klinker and women's soccer player Teagan Wy.
The evening also featured a pre-game student-athlete panel, performances from the Cal Spirit Squad and Oski, a pre-game on-field interview with Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton, and the playing of the national anthem and in-game music from the Cal Straw Hat Band.
And for the game – the Giants were a 3-0 winner over the Pirates when Patrick Bailey connected on a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
