May 4, 2024

STANFORD, Calif. – The first transfer to join the Stanford program under Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball, Oziyah Sellers has signed to play for the Cardinal. Sellers is a transfer from USC with two years of eligibility remaining.

"Oziyah is someone I have known since he was in the eighth grade. I have been following his career, and I am excited to coach him so he can reach the heights that I know he is capable of," said Smith. "During his time spent at USC, he displayed an ability to play all three perimeter positions offensively, and he has the talent, size and athleticism to guard any perimeter player."

A 6-5 shooting guard from Hayward, California, Sellers spent his first two seasons at USC, where he appeared in 58 games with six starts. One of the top 3-point shooters in the Pac-12, Sellers averaged 5.2 points on 46.7 percent shooting from the floor and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc last season. He had a career-high 18 points last season at Colorado on Jan. 13 and was named to the Pac-12 Honor Roll.

A graduate of Southern California Academy in 2022, where he was a teammate with rising redshirt sophomore Jaylen Thompson, Sellers helped lead the team to a top-10 national ranking and a 24-4 record, scoring 13.0 points per game as a senior, to go with 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, while shooting 45 percent from 3-point range.

"His experience at this level over the past two years is needed, and we feel he will prosper and show more of his dynamic skills on and off the ball with a clear path ahead of him," continued Smith. "He is from the Bay Area and he and his family have always dreamed of playing at Stanford and earning his degree."

Sellers was rated as the No. 10 player in the state of California out of high school, per ESPN, as a four-star signee. He was a consensus top-150 recruit and one of the top-20 shooting guards in the country.

Sellers is Stanford's first undergraduate transfer since Andrew Zimmerman in 2009, who started his career at Santa Clara and Foothill College before joining the Cardinal for his final three seasons. The Cardinal had a graduate transfer in each of the past two seasons (Michael Jones, Davidson; Jared Bynum, Providence).
