Weekend Wrap: Beavs Warm Up for Pac-12s

May 6, 2024

CORVALLIS, Ore – The Oregon State Track and Field Team battled the elements throughout a wet and cold weekend in the Beaver State, competing at the Oregon Twilight, Portland Twilight and Linfield Open.

Rain in Eugene on Friday night forced the Beavs jumps and sprints groups to scratch many of their participants from the Oregon Twilight but the throwers still got work in ahead of the weather.

Jayla Hooper – competing unattached - earned two top five results with a 51.65m/169-5 hammer throw and a 43.80/143-8 mark in the discus. Katie Gelston placed second in the disc with a 46.14m/151-4 toss.

Oregon elected not to host competition in the javelin, so Sara Sanders and Jazlyn Romero headed north to McMinnville, where they finished 1-2 in the event.

On the track Jillian Brown provided the highlight of the day, moving up to no. 6 all-time in the 800 meters with a 2:08.80. Competing unattached, Abigail Pradere also posted what would have been a top-10 OSU mark with a 2:09.94.

Ainsley Herron, also competing unattached, raced to a 4:31.06 in the 1,500 meters to lead Oregon State runners. Delaney Griffin led OSU competitors in uniform with a 4:33.39 for 15th.
