Boulder set to host Pac-12 Track & Field Championships for the first time

The 2024 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships are on tap this weekend, as teams from across the Conference will come up to altitude for the meet in Boulder, Colo. It’s the first time the meet will be hosted by the University of Colorado.

Competition is scheduled for Friday, May 10 – Sunday, May 12 at Potts Field.

Pac-12 Networks Broadcast Information

The Pac-12 Track & Field Championships will air on Pac-12 Networks and Pac-12.com this week, with live commentary provided by veteran broadcasters Jim WatsonTom Feuer, and Ato Boldon. A former star sprinter for UCLA, Boldon was the Conference 100m and 200m champion in both 1995 and 1996 and ranks second all-time in Pac-12 history in both events (100m – 9.90, 200m – 19.80).

Multiple event broadcasts will take place on Friday and Saturday, with the complete slate of championship events airing on Pac-12 Network on Sunday. Sunday’s full show opens at 12 p.m. PT / 1 p.m. MT with the gun for the women’s 4x100m relay. 

2023 Pac-12 Championship Recap / Notes

  • The 2023 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships at Mt. SAC saw the Washington men and Oregon women secure team titles. 
  • It was the first-ever Pac-12 team title for the Washington men, who snapped Oregon’s streak of 15-straight Conference titles on the men’s side dating back to 2007.
  • The Huskies clinched the meet with Brian Fay’s 5000m win, becoming only the second men’s team and third overall (2003 Stanford men, 2010 Oregon women) to sweep the distance events (800, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 3000m steeplechase) at the Pac-12 Meet.
  • The Oregon women repeated as league champions in 2023 and picked up their 13th-all-time Pac-12 title. 
  • Oregon’s Jadyn Mays won the 100m, led the 4x100m relay to victory, and finished second in the 200m to come away with Women’s Athlete of the Meet honors with 20.5 points.
  • USC’s Johnny Brackins was named Men’s Athlete of the Meet after totaling 22 points with an event win in the long jump and leg in the victorious 4x100m relay, runner-up in the 110m hurdles, and leg on the third-place 4x400m relay.

All-Time Pac-12 Championship Notes

  • The UCLA women lead the Conference with 15 league titles, but seek their first since 2004.
  • The Oregon women have won 11 titles since 2009, falling only to USC when the Trojans three-peated in 2018, 2019, and 2021 (2020 meet canceled due to COVID-19).
  • The Oregon men have won a Conference-leading 22 league titles, with UCLA and USC having won 17 and 16, respectively. 

National Leaders

A trio of Pac-12 student-athletes are the collegiate leaders in their respective events in the NCAA this year:

  • Women’s Pole Vault: Hana Moll, Fr., Washington – 4.60m (15-01.00) at Mt. SAC Relays
  • Women’s Shot Put: Jaida Ross, Jr., Oregon – 19.71m (64-08.00) – collegiate record at Triton Invite
  • Men’s Hammer: Rowan Hamilton, 6th, California – 77.16m (253-2) at Mt. SAC Relays

A total of 18 Pac-12 student-athletes/relay squads rank in the top five in their respective events ahead of the Conference Meet.

Nationally-Ranked Programs

The following Pac-12 programs have earned national rankings on the May 7 iteration of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll ahead of this weekend’s competition:

  • Women: No. 3 Oregon, No. 16 USC, No. 25 Washington
  • Men: No. 6 USC, No. 24 Washington
