Cats Run-Rule Huskies, Advance to Semifinals of Pac-12 Tournament

STANFORD, Calif. – The five-seed Wildcats took down the four-seed Huskies in the quarterfinals, 11-3, in six innings. Arizona scored 11 runs on 13 hits to hand Washington its first mercy rule loss of the season.
 
Olivia DiNardo went 3-for-4 and drove in a career-high-tying five runs. She doubled and homered in the game to help Arizona beat Washington. Tayler Biehl went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs.
 
The Wildcats struck first with two runs to open the game. Allie Skaggs drove in the first run with an RBI single and DiNardo doubled in the second run of the inning.
 
Arizona took a four-run lead over the Huskies in the second inning. With runners on second and third, Regan Shockey scored Biehl with an RBI groundout. Carlie Scupin followed with a one-run double to center field, Arizona's second double of the game.
 
In the fourth, Kaiah Altmeyer added to Arizona's lead with an RBI groundout for a 5-0 lead. Washington cut into the lead with back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 5-3 game.
 
DiNardo hit her 12th home run of the season – a two-run blast – to give Arizona a 7-3 lead in the fifth.
 
The Cats scored two more in the top of the sixth to take a six-run lead over the Huskies. Shockey drove in the first run of the inning with her 75th hit of the season and Skaggs hit an RBI groundout to bring in another run.
 
Miranda Stoddard started the game and went 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. Brooke Mannon entered in relief to start the third and went one inning. She struck out two Huskies in a row to end the third inning and keep Washington off the board but gave up the two-run homer in the fourth. Aissa Silva entered the circle in the fourth and went the final 3.0 innings, giving up just one earned run to Washington.
