SAN FRANCISCO – Three of the first eight picks in the 2022 WNBA Draft were from the Pac-12 in Oregon's Nyara Sabally, Stanford's Lexie Hull and Colorado's Mya Hollingshed. Sabally went to the New York Liberty with the No. 5 overall selection, Hull was taken one pick later at No. 6 by the Indiana Fever and Hollingshed was picked by the Las Vegas Aces at No. 8.

It's the fourth time the Pac-12 has had three first-round selections (1997 College Draft, 2000 College Draft, 2020) and the second time it has boasted three of the draft's first eight selections (2020). The conference has now had multiple first rounders in six consecutive drafts, an active streak that leads all leagues by three years. The SEC has had multiple first rounders in three consecutive drafts.

The third Pac-12 player selected in the first round by the New York Liberty in the past three drafts joining former teammate and fellow Duck Sabrina Ionescu in 2020 and 2021 Rookie of the Year Michaela Onyenwere (UCLA), Sabally is Oregon's 12th all-time WNBA Draft pick. Also on that list is her sister Satou, who went No. 2 overall to the Dallas Wings in 2020, making them the first pair of sisters to be top-five picks since Stanford's Ogwumikes were No. 1 selections in 2012 (Nneka - Los Angeles Sparks) and 2014 (Chiney - Connecticut Sun). All of Oregon's four first-round picks have come since 2020, a number that is the most of any school in the country. Sabally earned All-Pac-12 honors for the second straight year in 2021-22 after leading the team and finishing sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game.

Hull, Stanford's 13th first-round selection and highest since Chiney Ogwumike went No. 1 overall in 2014, is the Cardinal's 28th all-time WNBA Draft pick. Just the sixth player in program history to earn both All-America and Academic All-America honors, Hull helped lead the Cardinal to one national championship, two Final Fours, two Pac-12 regular season championships and three Pac-12 Tournament championships during her career on The Farm. She is one of 15 players in program history to be named All-Pac-12 three times.

The sixth CU player ever drafted in the WNBA, Hollingshed is the program's sixth selection all-time and first since Chucky Jefferey went 24th overall to the Minnesota Lynx in 2013. She is the first from the Pac-12 drafted by the Aces franchise since Washington's Kelsey Plum was the No. 1 overall selection in 2017. The first first-round pick in Colorado history, Hollingshed averaged 14.7 points and 7.6 rebounds over her last two seasons, earning back-to-back All-Pac-12 honors.

In 2021, the WNBA’s landmark 25th season featured 23 Pac-12 alumnae on opening-day rosters and 14 former standouts from six conference schools on each of the eight teams in the WNBA Playoffs - Oregon (4), UCLA (3), California (2), Stanford (2), Washington (2), Arizona State (1). Oregon’s Ruthy Hebard ultimately won a WNBA Championship with the Chicago Sky.
