SAN FRANCISCO - For the seventh time in eight seasons, the Conference's coaches have selected STANFORD as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 women's soccer title.

The Cardinal, which has not received fewer than 100 points since 2010, picked up 116 overall points and six first-place votes in the 2022 preseason poll. Two-time defending Pac-12 champion UCLA came in a close second with 112 points, including four first-place votes. For the first time in program history, WASHINGTON STATE cracked the top-three in the preseason poll with 100 points and two first-place votes. Rounding out the top-half are USC with 88 points, COLORADO with 79 and CALIFORNIA with 70.

WASHINGTON was seventh (52 points), OREGON eighth (51 points), UTAH ninth (46 points), ARIZONA STATE 10th (41 points), OREGON STATE 11th (22 points), and ARIZONA 12th (15 points). 

The coach's top four picks all appeared in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 poll released on August 2. UCLA leads the group at No. 13, with USC No. 15, WASHINGTON STATE No. 20, and STANFORD No. 21. 

This preseason’s top four all earned 2021 NCAA Championship berths and finished in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25 regular-season poll, with UCLA finishing No. 3 (No. 11 USC; No. 15 WASHINGTON STATE; No. 20 STANFORD). A season ago, the Pac-12 had seven United Soccer Coaches All-Americans, the third most in Conference history, and four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

The nonconference regular season begins on Thursday Aug. 18 with COLORADO kicking things off at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MT against Weber State. All 12 teams are set to take the pitch that Thursday with seven of the 12 matches being televised on Pac-12 Networks. Conference play is set to begin on Friday, Sept. 23 when STANFORD and USC go head-to-head at 2 p.m. PT.
