Celebrating Pride Month 2023 across the Pac-12

As part of its commitment to cultivating a culture of belonging, the Pac-12 celebrates Pride all year long. However, throughout the month of June 2023 for Pride Month, the Conference of Champions celebrated the league's collective dedication to inclusivity by highlighting the launch of added resources for Pac-12 student-athletes and university communities. Across all 12 campuses, Pac-12 universities took part in Pride-themed events and took to social media to celebrate and share information for campus resources. These social media posts shared personal stories and offered educational opportunities for fans and followers (see below for select posts!). 
 
Pac-12 Educational Webinar
 
During the month of June, the Pac-12 hosted an educational webinar titled "Caring for the Transgender and Non-Binary Student-Athlete," which featured members of the LGBTQIA+ Pac-12 Committee with Dr. Katie Imborek and Dr. Britt Marcussen from the University of Iowa. Pac-12 universities, student-athletes, coaches, student-athlete development directors, academic advisors and staff attended the webinar to learn how policies affecting transgender and non-binary student-athletes are evolving, how such policies are often sport-specific and how teams can create inclusive environments, educate staff and provide resources and support. Dr. Imborek also spoke at the 2023 Pac-12 Health Equity Summit in January on the same topic, with that discussion below: 

 
Pac-12 Pride Celebrations
 
 
The Pac-12 released its annual Pac-12 Pride celebration spot to kick Pride Month, featuring student-athletes and activations from around the league. UCLA softball's Kirk Walker also caught up with Pac-12.com to discuss the pioneering work he took part in to help launch the the Sports Equality Foundation, a non-profit that empowers LGBT student-athletes, coaches, and professionals by connecting them through a web-based network site. In addition, the Pac-12's employee resource group "Pac-12 Pride" participated in the San Francisco Pride parade festivities on Sunday, June 23!
