In the most successful selection Sunday in Pac-12 beach volleyball history, a record six conference teams were chosen to compete in the 17-team field for the 2024 NCAA Championship, held May 3-5 in Gulf Shores, Ala.

With the conference’s previous record sitting at four programs, this year’s six teams set a new record for most Pac-12 programs to be selected to the NCAA Championship. The six entrants into the field mark the most from a single league this season, with no other league boasting more than three entrants. Additionally the pool of six welcomes two first-time tournament members and four returning competitors. The Pac-12’s top-two programs, USC (‘16, ‘17, ‘21, ‘22, ‘23) and UCLA (‘18, ‘19) have claimed every National title since its inception as an NCAA-sponsored sport in 2016 and are looking to continue their legacies as the top-two seeds in the tournament.

After spending five weeks atop the country in the national rankings, Pac-12 Champion USC earned the top overall seed, set to face either No. 16 North Florida or No. 17 Chattanooga in their opening match on Wednesday morning. The Trojans look to win their fourth consecutive National Championship after becoming the first to win three back-to-back last season.

Pac-12 runner-up UCLA will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed, competing for their first National title since 2019. The Bruins closed the regular season as the only program to be ranked in the top-two nationally for the entirety of the season, thanks to their 31 ranked duals where they saw 25 overall wins. For the second year in a row, the Bruins will open their tournament run against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 11 am PT.

After boasting their best regular season mark in program history (28-3) and taking down two No. 1 programs on the season, the STANFORD Cardinal has been selected to compete amongst the 17-team field for the fourth year in a row, entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed. The CALIFORNIA Golden Bears were awarded the league's last top-10 at-large bid, selected as the seventh seed and competing for their third-straight year. The Cardinal are set for a Wednesday afternoon match against No. 14 Georgia State while the Golden Bears will go head-to-head with No. 10 Long Beach State.

For the first time in their program's history, ARIZONA STATE and WASHINGTON will compete for a chance at the title, both receiving at-large bids. The Sun Devils, seeded 12th, will face off against No. 5 Cal Poly and the No. 13 seeded Huskies will look for their first-ever tournament win against No. 4 Florida State. The two programs enter the tournament as the first non-California schools to compete from the league since 2016 (Arizona).

The event will be held May 3-5, in Gulf Shores, Ala., at the Gulf Shores Public Beach. It will be televised live by ESPN networks, with ESPNU providing live coverage on Friday, May 3 at 7 a.m. PT. Live coverage will continue Saturday, May 4 on ESPN2, starting at 7 a.m. PT. The championship dual will air on ESPN2 Sunday, May 5.
