The 2024 Pac-12 women’s lacrosse season tips off with all eight teams in action throughout the weekend, with play kicking off on Friday, Feb. 9.

Around the League

  • USC enters the season ranked No. 17 in the IWLCA Preseason Poll. The Trojans were ranked in every poll last season, reaching No. 21 in the season’s final top 25. 
     
  • The league welcomes San Diego State and UC Davis as affiliate members this season, who join the Pac-12 after competing independently for the past two seasons. UC Davis won the MPSF Tournament in 2021 after posting a program-best 12-4 record.. The Aggies are led by head coach Suzanne Isidor, who is a three-time MPSF Coach of the Year and boasts a 45-35 record at UC Davis. San Diego State went 15-18 the last two seasons combined, and returns attacker Brooklyne Waddell, who ranked third on the team a season ago with 29 points (12g, 17a). The Aztecs hired assistant coach Rob Bray this past August. Bray served as associate head coach and assistant coach at Oregon for 13 years (2003-16). 
     
  • USC's Isabelle Vitale, Claudia Shevitz and Catherine Lord were named Preseason All-American Honorable Mention by USA Lacrosse. Shevitz also earned All-American Third Team recognition by Inside Lacrosse. 
     
  • USC was selected first in the 2024 Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse preseason coaches poll. The defending regular season and tournament champion garnered 48 total points and six first-place votes, while Stanford was picked to finish second with 44 points and two first-place selections.  
     
  • The Pac-12 returns 13 postseason All-Conference honorees from a season ago, including reigning Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year Shevitz, the 2023 Pac-12 Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Kait Devir, and 2023 Freshman of the Year Teagan NG. 
     
  • The Conference welcomes seven standouts featured on ILWomen’s Class of 2023 Power 100 Incoming Freshmen Rankings: Stanford Aliya Polisky - No. 14, A, Stanford; Lindsey Devir - No. 16, M, Stanford; Ava Arceri - No. 24, M, Stanford; Shae Lembo - No. 32, G, Stanford; Anna Colpack - No. 54, M, Stanford; Ellie Johnson - No. 71, D, Stanford; Anna Regan - No. 86, M, USC.

This Week 

  • San Diego State visits Lindenwood on Friday, Feb. 9 before taking on Xavier on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Tempe, Ariz. The Aztecs topped Lindenwood, 15-9, a season ago behind a hat trick from Emma Betts. 
     
  • UC Davis battles Niagara on Friday in Tempe, Ariz before hosting Akron on Sunday. The Aggies have boasted a winning record at home in each of the last three seasons. 
     
  • No. 17 USC travels to No. 15 Army on Friday in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Trojans then visit Villanova on Sunday eyeing their second-straight win over the Wildcats. USC won 15-4 in the meeting last year, with K. Devir posting four saves and Maggie Brown andVitale each recording hat tricks. 
     
  • Arizona State welcomes Xavier on Friday and Niagara on Sunday to the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. The Sun Devils have won their season opener in five of the last six seasons.  
     
  • California’s home opener takes place Friday against Akron. The Golden Bears are coming off a season in which they had their most victories since 2019. 
     
  • The Jessica Drummond era begins for Oregon on Friday as the Ducks take on Youngstown State. Drummond was a four-year letter winner for the Ducks from 2009-12, and is the first Oregon lacrosse alumna to be the Ducks’ head coach. 
     
  • Stanford sees its first action of the season on Sunday against No. 16 Virginia in the first of its two East Coast trips in 2024. The Cardinal is looking for its first-ever win over the lacrosse powerhouse, and narrowly fell to the Cavaliers, 14-11, in 2023. 
     
  • Colorado begins its 2024 campaign against Louisville, one of its seven non-conference games on deck this season. The Buffaloes held off Louisville in overtime back in 2022, which was sealed by Sadie Grozier’s free-position goal.  
     
2024 Pac-12 Tournament 
 
  • The 2024 Pac-12 Tournament is set for May 1-4 at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The event will consist of a six team, single-elimination tournament format, and the tournament field will be based on regular-season conference record. All five contests are slated to broadcast on Pac-12 Network and the Pac-12 Now app. .
